I've been fascinate lately at the realiztion that it isn't that difficult to create my own soda flavors. Why? Well, first of all, I can control the quality and types of ingredients. I love using fresh, seasonal fruits and herbs. And, it is a lot of fun to dream up unusual combinations that you can't buy at the grocery store.
Remember the vanilla blueberries in syrup I talked about in my last post here at the Georgia Blueberry website? I decided to try a bit of it stirred into some soda water. It was fantastic! The vanilla gives it a cream soda flavor. It can be the sophisticated beverage at your next cocktail... but my kids loved it too (and it is fun, whimsical color thanks to the blueberries). Here is what I did:
8 to 10 ounces of soda or seltzer water
3 to 4 tbsp of Vanilla Blueberries in Syrup
a squeeze of fresh lime
Stir the vanilla blueberries in syrup into the soda or seltzer water. Squeeze a half of lime right over the soda and enjoy!
Many of your homemade jams and jellies are terrific enjoyed as a flavor for homemade sodas just like this one! Go crazy!

Fun....we have a Soda Stream and this sounds much better than the flavors my son likes to make....maybe I will put him to work. :) Thanks for the inspiration!
Want to say thank you for all your amazing ideas you have using Blueberries in Recipes. I am a new consumer of so many fresh fruits such as blueberries and learning how to use them and store them has been amazing. Thanks again!!!
We always said "pop" growing up. I now like saying "soda" with a very loooong "o". Like I'm from the Dakotas ;) Love the recipe!!!
Love cream soda and can't wait to try this new recipe! I'm sure my kiddo is going to love it!
